Throughout the summer, campers can practice the art of canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and sailing in the safe confines of our waterfront before venturing out to other lakes and rivers. In addition to more formal instruction, activities like sailboat tag, water obstacle courses, and paddleboard yoga make the learning process fun for campers of varying interests and experience.

Canoeing & Kayaking

At Treetops, all campers have the opportunity to canoe and kayak, no matter their skill level. Our certified staff teach paddling basics, life jacket safety, boating rescue procedures, safe portaging methods, and more.

When they have demonstrated sufficient proficiency, campers may embark on day and overnight boating trips with our wilderness trip leaders, using lightweight canoes and kayaks from our well-stocked fleet.

Sailing

All campers may participate in our sailing program. Beginners first learn the basics of knots, rigging, and points of sail. On our lake, budding sailors first learn to handle small Sunfish before progressing to the larger and more challenging Capris.

As they become more advanced and knowledgeable sailors, campers have the chance to test their skills on trips to larger lakes in the Adirondack Park.
