At least once a week, all of Camp gathers together for a special activity. These events help us to celebrate different program areas, highlight campers skills and interests, or simply to laugh, play, or work as a community.
Throughout the summer, campers, counselors, and staff alike look forward to these events, including:
- 4th of July bonfire
- community mornings
- Treetops scavenger hunt
- harvest banquet
- square dances
- skits and plays
- talent shows.
Here’s a more in-depth look at a few of our all-camp events:
Water Carnival
During the Water Carnival, an all-afternoon annual event of water-related fun, campers revel in:
- greased watermelon races
- costumed water relays
- canoe tug-of-war
- slip ’n slide
- face painting.
Gymkhana
Once each summer, the riding staff arrives at morning Council on horseback, dressed in elaborate costumes. This grand arrival marks Gymkhana — a series of activities on horseback that offer campers the opportunity to show off their horsemanship skills as they take part in whimsical, out-of-the-ordinary activities. In special horseback races, participants carry an egg on a spoon while guiding their horse through a series of obstacles or dismount and search for marshmallows hidden in a plate of flour, without using their hands. Others play “musical horses” — a horseback version of musical chairs — with counselors playing guitars to provide the music.
FarmFest
During the annual end-of-season FarmFest, we celebrate the beauty and bounty of the farm, as well as the hard work of growing food as a community. FarmFest begins with a parade, during which proud campers lead horses whose manes and tails they’ve braided and decorated with flowers. Then campers, counselors, and staff participate in fun and creative activities such as:
- blindfolded taste tests
- salsa and butter making
- snacking on veggies and dips
- face painting
- herbal lip balm making
- pickle tasting
- weaving flower chains
- all-Camp singing
- wood-fired pizza making.
